Why have some old houses lasted so long? In this webinar woodworker Lee McColgan provides an overview of traditional building technology and makes the case for why preserving historic houses is of value to the community.

A lifelong builder, Lee McColgan discovered the art of timber framing ten years ago, which ignited his passion for all historic trades. He primarily practices traditional woodworking, both carpentry and joinery. He builds reproduction furniture and works in the preservation industry, primarily for Westmill Preservation (Halifax, MA). Lee is the founder of Helve LLC, a historic trades company focused on the building arts. In addition to woodworking, he is also a proficient blacksmith, mason,tinsmith, and potter.
