Join Patrick Browne and Joyce Poremski for a walk through Oak Grove Cemetery exploring the lives of several generations of Plymouth’s prominent Hedge family, associated with the Society’s headquarters, the Hedge House Museum. Through the stories of family members buried there, the tour will trace Plymouth’s changing fortunes through whaling and maritime commerce, early industry, the Civil War, and the social and domestic life of the nineteenth century. Together, their lives and their memorials tell the story not only of one remarkable family, but of a community transformed across generations.

Participants should park along Summer Street, being sure to park in front of the cemetery and not on private property. There is also limited parking possible just inside the Summer Street gates by the town tomb. Participants should be careful not to block cemetery lanes when parking. The tour will commence near the Summer Street gates.
