In the cold winter of 1776, Plymouth was a community at war, investigating ways to make saltpeter, planning fortifications, and sending citizens off to fight. Dr. Donna Curtin, Executive Director of Pilgrim Hall Museum, will lead us on this free 1-hour walking tour. Join the group at the very top of the Hill.
The Burial Hill Tour series is presented by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society and Pilgrim Hall Museum and tours are held on the first Saturday of each month (except January).
No reservations required for individuals and families. Participants may traverse steep and grassy slopes and should wear appropriate shoes. Severe weather may cancel tour; updates will be posted to our Facebook page.
About the Series
The Burial Hill tour program was originally launched in 2011 by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society, in collaboration with Pilgrim Hall Museum. The two organizations began co-presenting the series in 2016. Themed history tours will be offered at the ancient burying ground at 1 pm on the first Saturday of each month from February through December. This popular series features local historians who share their expertise on a fascinating range of topics, highlighting art, history, and culture in the open-air museum at the heart of downtown Plymouth. Tours begin at the top of the Hill and last approximately one hour.
